Detroit Symphony Orchestra: Star Wars concert, Jan 19-22
This is one of the reasons I'm out of touch lately. The Detroit Symphony Orchestra is doing a Star Wars pops concert in January, and they want a lightsaber fight for Duel of the Fates! Yours Truely is one of the Jedi that will meet an untimely end at this gig. Russ, Kat, and I are about half done with the choreography. So we're kinda hitting crunch time. But everything we have so far rocks! It's a long fight, the piece is four and a half minutes long. Have I mentioned that it's going to rock? Ticket prices seem to range from $40 to $103 depending on the seat and performance. Wow. I'll try to get a video of the fight to show people who don't have that kind of cash kicking around.
Guys & Dolls, Jan 12-15
This is the other reason I'm out of touch recently. Ann Arbor Civic Theatre is doing Guys & Dolls this January. I have a chorus part, which means I've got a hand full of bit parts including, but not limited to, gambler, texan tourist, cuban dancer. Ticket prices are a little crazy for a community theater gig, $24 for adults, $21 for students/seniors. I'd recommend the Thursday show when all tickets are $15. It's at the Mendelssohn theater in the Michigan League.

Some People Act Suprised at DMCA Abuse
From /., "Via TechDirt, the news that despite the intent of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, it's very popular to abuse the law by using it merely to compete, without legal basis: 'Supporters of the DMCA claim that only an occasional improper takedown notice gets through. Some new research suggests otherwise. Over 30% of DMCA takedown notices have been deemed improper and potentially illegal.'" Honestly, who didn't see this coming?
Laser Sighted Pencil Gun
Ok, I'm no stranger to office supply weaponry. But this thing scares me. ... I'll do a follow up post to let you know how well it works.
Good Kiteboarding Weather
Before college, I loved to hear radio warnings of small craft advisories on Lake Michigan. That meant it was time to drop everything and take the Sunfish out. I used to think that was moderately hardcore. After watching these guys kiteboard in Hurricane Dennis, I'm not so sure any more. I gotta get a kite board. Actually, anyone know where I can get a cheap sailboard? Not that I could do anything like that in Michigan. The really good storm season usually involves the Lake throwing around 3' chunks of ice. That's be tricky to board in.
