Dyslexia Has A Language Barrier
Will sent me this cool article on dyslexia. From the article, "Alan's parents are English, but he was born and grew up in Japan. He would pass as a native speaker of either language. What brought Alan to the notice of Taeko Wydell, an expert on Japanese reading, and Brian Butterworth, was that he was severely dyslexic, but only in one language. In the other, he was probably in the top 10% of readers of his age."

White House D&D
Got this interesting photo from Jamie. Well, that would certainly explain a few things.

Anybody want a Gmail account?
I just noticed today that I have 6 invites I can give out. Anybody want a Gmail account?

NASA Releases World Viewer
From /., "Nasa has released a comprehensive world viewing tool that allows you to zoom from planetary resolution down to where you can pick out individual streets. Really cool, but it needs a good internet connection and a decent graphics card. There's all sorts of interesting features, such as the ability to tilt your view for a flight-sim like experience and a data display feature that shows current natural disasters, political boundaries, weather patterns, and landmarks on the Earth's surface, all while providing a dynamic satellite's eye view of the planet."

Anyone want to place bets on how long I can keep from playing with this at work?

Mechanical Pocket Calculator
I'm not even sure how to begin describing these, so I'll just send you to the page.

Horse head pillow
You've got to be some kind of Godfather fan to enjoy something like this.

Fight Religious Fundamentalism With... Show Tunes!
As a Christian, I have to say that this is one of the most wonderful things I have ever read.

Electro-Mechanical Pong
(Found this on /.) Yes, you read that title right. A physical version of pong, done entirely with relay switches. Go check it out. The video is incredible.

Frozen sugar at centre of Milky Way
There's a cool little article over at Scotsman.com about the discovery of a cloud of sugar in interstellar space. This of course reinforces the concept that the laws of the universe are geared towards producing life. This either evidence for or against the existence of God, depending on who you're talking to.

Stiff Drink Needed
Here, courtesy of Jamie, your picture of the day.

NASA Fakes Moon Landing
Got this from Jamie. Ya know, I've never given much credit to the conspiracy theories. But this proof is pretty compelling.

My computer is trying to kill me.
This is not a theory. This is now proven fact. My machine at work is trying to make me pop a blood vessel in my brain. God damned heisenbugs. Just in case its evil plot works and this is my last communication with my friends and family, I just wanted to say one thing. Right now, I hate everyone in the world.

Well, it's either trying to kill me to turn me to the dark side. Whatever.

Inherit The Wind Opens Thursday!
One of my time-sinks is about to disappear. Inherit The Wind opens Thursday at the Towsley Auditorium. The show is up Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 8:00, and Sunday at 2:00. Tix are available online, although now you need to make an account. (I imagine tickets will also be available at the door.) And if cash is an issue, you can always be an usher! I play random reporter #2. I spend most of my time with my face buried in a notepad. And I do it rather well, if I may say.
